Back To The Basics: Artist Marketing In 2026

Artist marketing in 2026 is key to your success as a musician in today’s oversaturated age of music. But not any type of artist marketing—the artist marketing that allows you to stand out in a crowd of many, cultivate an intimate relationship with your audience, and position yourself for success.

Sidebar — my name is Karmen Rydem, strategist, growth expert, brand builder, marketing connoisseur that’s been working in music for over 13 years. But not only music—I’ve worked for companies like AWS and Amazon, managing million-dollar budgets every month, to independent labels across the U.S.—all geared toward generating more leads, aka more attention to their products.

In this case, the product is your music.

As much as people like to use ChatGPT (no shade), I’d also like to note that all of this writing is my thoughts, topped with a nice spell and grammar check from Chat. I say all of that to say, just as I am sitting here at my desk typing out this blog to you from my creative brain, you can tap into your creative brain when it comes to artist marketing.

There are going to be some tips that I share with you that you won’t hear anywhere else because usually people are trying to make you pay thousands of dollars for it—but me, I’ll share all the game with you here on this blog and more specific information in my Substack.

In the meantime, let’s get into it. If you’ve made it this far into the article, you’re definitely someone who should always come back here to see what the new gist is:

Artist Marketing in 2026 — what is the point and how can I do it successfully?

Well, artist marketing is the art of marketing yourself as an artist—simply put. So when you’ve created your music, or are in the process of creating, what you do to ensure people hear your music is the marketing aspect.

This includes, but isn’t limited to: posting in-studio videos of yourself while creating a song, showing the finished product of the record on Instagram Live, posting your video on social media, posting your video on social media and running ads behind it, booking yourself an interview to talk about yourself and your music, and so on.

Artist marketing is the art of marketing yourself so people can listen to your music.

So how do we take advantage and do this successfully?

I’ll provide the steps for you—but you have to read the rest of it on our Substack.
